what is this part called? 1969 100hp merc 1000

when i fire up my engine and push the throttle down the prop doest accelerate w/ the throttle, i am missing a piece that connects it. you can manually pull the throttle inside, any one know where to find this piece or how to make one? thanks for any info

does the engine rev when you advance the throttle and just does not shift into gear? sounds like the shift cable/connection is missing. this a single lever control box?

i think it is the cable shift connection, i will take some pictures of it and post them, im new to boating and this is my first boat, when we took it out it would only go about 7 mph, but the guy i got it from said he could get it up to 20 to 25, but still not planning. any advice would be great, i'll take pictures and post them in a minute.
