what is this part called...?

hi folks. i have a 1973 50 hp evinrude that had water in lower cylinder, took of exhaust cover to find the , ok here it goes" inner exhaust plate/ watre jacket block off" had been slowly coroding away and was allowing huge amounts of water into the lower cylinder... what the hck is that thing called... here is a pic

I've seen it called 'Inner exhaust cover' or 'inner exhaust divider plate' in addition to 'Inner exhaust plate.' Good guess! <br />Are those cylinders as bad as they look???

...cylinders have light surface rust but will clean up with honing.

I don't think you need to worry.

That's called a "Inner Exhaust Cover", most commonly called a "Inner Exhaust Baffle Plate" by the majority of mechanics.<br /><br />The original OMC number is 315870 and is superceeded by number 320724. To my knowledge it is no longer available but may still be in stock at various dealerships.<br /><br />The last price I could find on it was in a 1992 price book which was $29.10. I'd suspect that the new price (if it can be found) at the present time would be around $50.00 .
