still new to boat's, wandering what this is?? it is clamped in the main fuel line right before the motor, think it might be some kind of quick fuel disconnect in case of fire or something??? here are some pic's , did not see anything in manual about it. any info would be helpful about it's function's and purpose, and is it needed. going through fuel system and cleaning/replacing what is needed. thank's in advance

It would help the guys a lot to list your boat and engine specs.

I'm pretty sure it's fuel line coupler, my father has one on his smaller boat, it runs from his portable thank to main fuel line. In event he is pulling tank out to fill it up he disconnects line.

ndarkow, it's 87 bayliner capri 17', has a 1987 85hp force motor. redstart, victordzhur that's what I was thinking, I might elimate it for now, but keep it handy in case I need it in the future.

Your motor came stock with a quick disconect from Force.
The one you have is either Yamaha or OMC.
The original was junk and lasted usually a few years.
You don't need one.
The hose should be replace with Ethanol resistant hose anyway.
It's a good thing to have if your built in tank takes a crap, then you can just use a carry on tank.
