Can someone tell me what this plug is for? I have had the motor for about a year and am just now noticing it. It is pretty tucked away as you can see from this pics. This is a 30HP Tohatsu M30A2.

What's rear of it ? Probably just a water port to drain pan when flushing it or a front carb access ?

Turns out it's a receptacle for a lamp...but it looks like it shares the same wires as the tachometer. Im not sure if this is just to power the tachometer or if the tachometer can derive the RPMs from this connection as well.

yep its for having a cabin /fishing light, the japs think of everything.
shame that tohatsu are so bloody bad at keeping parts for the older engines.
the tohatsu 25 and 30 hp motors are very very good and built like rock.
