What is this repair going to take - hull damage

I made a rookie mistake and I'm really beating myself up about it. I have couple spots on the bottom of the hull that got some chunks taken out of the fiberglass. The biggest one is about half the size of my palm. The others are about smaller than the size of a quarter. A couple of streaks where the fiberglass was rubbed but wasn't didn't completely go through the fiberglass. How much of a headache am I in for?

of all the damage, this is the only one that I am concerned about

it looks like it may be a prior repair and you have water dripping from the gouge

the rest of them can be filled with thickened gel

simply start with 80 grit sand paper, clean the gouges really well, build up with thickened gel, then block sand and buff

the one that is dripping may need a layer of CSM if the water is not coming from inside the fiberglass

I agree. It looks like you have some delamination going on there. And that is never a good thing. But you will never know to what extent until you start to sand down the area. If you have it contained to a small area, not much of a fix. But if it goes on for a length, then you got some serious repair to tackle. Either way, when you find out the extent, post those pictures on here and we can help you resolve them. There are ways to fix most everything...

Looks like blister-itis to me. You'll be doing a bit of work fixing them. Do some Googling on blister repair.

Looks to me that there might be more issues hidden.-----Is there a way to look at the inside of the hull where this damage has shown up ?

I have an appt at boat repair shop on 12/11 so I wanted to get an idea of how big of a hole I dug myself.

When you ask to look inside the hull... it is right below the engine so I can try and see if I can visual the floor under the engine (on top of the water leak). Is that what you're asking? Or do you mean a more horizontal angle into the damage? Sorry if I'm not following.

Trying to determine if there was a large repair job done here.------What make of boat ?-----That delamination does not look normal to me.----Looks like very poor bonding in that location.

You have to separate the loose material until you get to solid non-delamination. That will be your starting point from there. Just hope it isn't too large an area. But this has been going on for a while from the looks of things. So It could be involved with a lot larger area then you think. But let's hope it isn't too large... JMHO

I don't trust myself to do the repairs if this more than cosmetic. Do you have guesstimate range of how much it could cost?

The problem is that it appears to have " bonding " issues.------You fix one spot and 6 months later you have the same cracks show up 1' away.
