What is this thing and whats it do?

This is on my evenrude 175 hp outboard and I have no idea what it is or for ! :confused: :confused: <br /> http://i5.tinypic.com/11tbpjq.jpg <br />Can any of you experts id this ? It round , has wires running from it , looks like fuel lines on it and a White plastic lever /handle on it. :rolleyes: :confused:

Pretty sure thats your electric choke solenoid.(at least I think it is still called a solenoid)<br /><br />When you hit the choke at the controls that lever should be moving the butterflies in the carbs.

thats the primer solenoid it injects fuel into intake manifold for cold starting<br />note: the red lever should be pointed backward for operation

Scrapper...you can change out that little "white" handle...really is red...and install a maint valve. Looks like a tire valve. When you want to decarb the engine, go over to the J/Rude dealer and get a can of their engine tuner. It has a hose on it with a screw on fitting to fit the maint valve. Fogging oil too. Makes it pretty simple and changing out the shrader valve is really easy.
