What is this??

This is mounted on the transom of my 86 Sea Ray, just to the left and slightly above the outdrive. Unfortunately, I can't see the back of it inside the boat without removing a lot of brackets, wires, cables, etc. Anyone have any idea??

Nope, not a doo-hickey. Looks like a fitting for passing either fish-finder transducer cable or speedometer tubing through the transom. However, at least in these photos, it looks like it's mounted kind of low.

It look almost identical to the fitting my line for my drive oil reservoir passes through.

I'm thinking it's a thru-hull fitting for the speedometer pitot tube.
Mine looks like that but it's stainless not black

Nope, Definately a Thing-a-ma-bob.

If what ever it went to has been abandoned then remove and seal up with some gel-coat repair and forget about it.

unless you want to reactivate it(whatever it was that it went to)

Well, I'm no expert but it definitely looks like a doomaflatchey to me. Could be wrong.

....it's darn hear identical to our Garmin GPS/Fishfinder thru-hull cable shield. What worries me is how low it is mounted and that tell-tale tanic color stain beneath it. Personally, I would remove it and take a core sample from the screw hole in the transom.

It's the thru hull fitting for the round gear lube reservoir. Item #16 in the picture below.

BTW, mine is slightly different, I have a screw top and bottom, but it's otherwise the same.

Tp the OP, it's obviously not in use, I would make sure it's watertight.

You can see mine, to the left of the drive with the line hooked up in this picture.
