Hello evrybody, I'm new here to the forums so I hope I got this posted in the right spot. I'm also new to boating and this is my first boat, so i'm just trying to figure out what everything is. I have a 1996 Celebrity 240cc and was wondering if anyone might know what this is, if your facing the back of the boat it's on the left side of the engine compartment and has kind of a milky white (i wanna say oil) fluid neither the owners manual or the manual for the engine says anything, by the way its a merc 7.4 bravo 1 stern drine i think its called any help would be greatly appreciated. and thanks again.

Re: What is this

It's your trim/tilt pump for raising and lowering your outdrive.

Oil is milky due to water intrusion. It uses 10W30 or 40 engine oil.

Hydraulic pump for trim. Sounds like you have water in the hydraulic fluid.

Re: What is this

Cool thanks for the quick response guys, so I'm guessing that is a bad thing, would u have an idea about what the problem is or where i should start looking? The previous owner had it docked at the marina for the past 2 years, I just recently pulled it out of the water so I could look and go thru everything. I'm kind of a do-it-yourselfer but is this something I should take to a mechanic or can I handle it myself? Thanks again.

Start by inspecting the trim rams, 'n it's lines for corrosion, or other leaks....
