What is this???

Can anyone tell me what this is and what the correct part is that goes here and where it goes to? Or where it connects or what it connects to and with what? I am referring to the little nipple looking thing I am pointing to with my index finger in the photo?
Also I added a second photo, do you where this wire connects to? black/yellow stripe

There should be a terminal on the switch box identified with ---BLK / YEL-------But it does indicate someone tried some ignition trouble shooting.----------New to you motor ?

Does your motor have/had a mercury switch? Black/yellow is part of tha kill circuit.....

I think this is his engine as I dug up the notes for him the other day:

MERCURY - (175 H.P. (1990M ))
Serial No: 0C289990 Model No: 11754220D

I am not even going to waste my time with a manual for those who can't even answer the posts you work for them. They want all the answers but forget the basic courtesies.

help me out here, Don't get all puffed up on me, I've been out working on the motor I've just got in. To check THE forum to see if anyone was able to help me with ID ing some of these wires and hoses
The motor is the right motor you were referring to above. 1990 175 Hp 1175422OD And I have some problems, that above being only one of them. I could use a service manual on my motor big time. Any help on this would be great.

I use a iPad 2 the manual uses flash I couldn't open it.
I just bought this motor, it came with the boat so, I am hoping to get it running I have multipule minor issues I need to fix and would greatly appreciate the help.

C289990 is the serial number on the engine block bolt
