Does anyone know how to tell what model my 4 bbl. Holley is? Its on a 1977 235 hp OMC 351W. The only thing I do know is that there are no external adjusters for the floats. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

the numbers are cast into the airhorn. holley's website will tell you what you have from these. the site is not really user friendly.

Re: what kind of carb?

Thanks for your help! The Holley guy was able to tell me by the list # that its a 4160 600 cfm. I think the float level needs adjusting, he said to invert the float chambers and align the top of the float with the top of the chamber...do ya'll agree? I idle great at 700 rpms but when I throttle up, it spits and sputters etc. Currently the floats are NOT aligned with the top of the chambers but are a bit below them. Do you think that could be my trouble? Thanks a million for your help!!
Dan

had to change user name, forgot my password....anyway, it doesn't smooth out, stays very uneven. A mechanic told me that it needed to be under a load in order for the distributor to work properly or something like that....any truth to that?
Thanks for any help!

uneven as spits and sputters or as unsteady rpms? first maybe water or restriction in fuel lines/filters. my own experience is water causes most engine missing problems. but we get 180" rain a year.

Re: what kind of carb?

thanks for replying...uneven as in spits and sputters....I put the fuel line into a bucket of what I knew to be clean gas, no difference. I had another fuel pump that I put on and it runs a bit better, but still gets very rough at about 2000 revs. Going to try putting it in the water today as I have had a few guys tell me that the boat needs the pressure or load to make it run properly. If that doesn't work, I have a carb kit on the way although it supposedly has been recently rebuilt, if not that, I'll replace the distributor. After that, I'm out of ideas. Thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted.
Dan
