Hello all, new to this site, got a 2003 baja outlaw 20 and just had a few questions. First is if you would recommend switching from regular oil to synthetic. Motor has 190 hrs on it and uses regular 25w 40. just wondering if synthetic would benefit me in any way. next question is anybody has a part # for a good oil filter to use. I go to the mercruiser website and it has multiple listings for V8's. Just trying to find the best one. Thanks a lot

You didn't mention what engine you have in your 2003 baja outlaw 20.
So, anyone that will fit.

It doesn't really make any difference which Mercruiser engine you have, the oil recommendations are the same. Here is the link to their fuel and oil recommendations.
http://www.mercurymarine.com/serviceandwarranty/mercruiserfaqs/fueloil.php

Now, if you don't want to use what Merc recommends, then use whatever you want. Because someone, somewhere, has used it and thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread.
The other thing, as long as you change it every 100 hours or yearly, which ever comes first, you will never have a problem with any kind of oil.

Water kills them long before the oil does.

If you use your S/N, when looking up parts you won't get so many choices.

Thanks for the quick replys. its a 305 by the way. Ill check out the oil recommendations. Anybody think synthetic is more benifical than conventional oil? In my manual is mentions not to switch to anything other than a conventional oil but why would that be?

What does "FC-W rated" mean anyway? Just curious.
