What kind of oil does my gearcase take in my 1972 65hp johnson.is it 80-90 gear oil. also not sure about what model it is.

yes as long as its NOT electric shift,electric shift takes a different oill and i dont rexall the name

NO, the 1972 was Hydro-Electric shift and takes Johnson/Evinrude "Premium Blend" gearcase oil. Previously called "Type C".

You have an electric shift lower unit, it uses premium blend as F R advises.

I'm confused, your antique Johnson 79 asking about a 65 from 72. Oh well I wasn't a fast learner.
