Bowline......They don't call it 'the king of knots' for nothing.<br /><br />It is strong. It does not untie itself. It can be untied after a stong load. You can make it with one hand.

Bundy: All but one that answered your question suggested the Bowline, reason for this is no matter how much strain is put on the knot it will still untie. Just remember the formula. "The Rabbit comes out of the hole, [loop in other hand]. Around the tree [tag end of rope], and down the hole". You'll never have to use you knife again. Happy Fishing, Hal

I have been looking for literature on tieing knots. anyone know where I can find some good illistrations? I always use this theory:<br /><br /> "If you can't tie a knot, tie A LOT!"

no kiddin' the library has some good books on knots.. but in every marine center has quite a few knot books,,too.. i bought one years ago called ''the morrow guide to knots'' good book with good pictures..didn't cost much..

here's a site that you can get lost on .. gobs of info. & stuff .. get on it an scroll around.. even has good hook fishing knots.. by-the-way, fellas' i said anchor bend so it mite stir curiosity & mite cause to learn another not... the bowline is a good one,,, one of the best but so is the anchor bend.. blacklakeny.com/boatknots.html

And it's not a rope. A rope is a rope until it's intended for or touches a boat....then it becomes a line (or a bight or a rode or a sheet or a painter or....)
