what lookout for on mercury 55hp

i have achance of a55hp what should i look for when checking it out he says it hasnt run since last summer

Is that a Mark 55, anyway on any engine ck the gear lube, grease all zerts, ck. or change the plugs, charge the battery and give it a go.
