How about any high viscosity outboard gear oil to API GL-5

Wal-Mart do one at an attractive price I understand.

I just went through this here in Antigua, where most of the time you can't get any official lower unit oils.
I went with brand X GL5 because the book says that's the spec. to use, and that's all I can get,. All I can get trumps other considerations.
But on the other hand, the oem oil labelers say the official LU oil has a feature to work well with a high level of water contamination.
This I assume is over and above the GL5 spec you see on the container of official LU oil.
I have to ask when is GL5 not GL5?
So it's hard to separate the BS from the truth, but if I could get it , I would use the oil specified by the maker, because why not.
On the other hand , my Oceanpro has run on standard GL5 90/150 since 1991.
I sound like an economist hedging my advice.

If i could not locate the factory brand i would use Mobile 1 75w90. It is GL-5 rated. 90w150 sounds way too thick to me.
Many people run the Mobile 1 with no issues.
