Been looking at a lot of boats lately, some I can identify, some I can't this one looks like it could be an SS, but it only has one console. Owner says it's an early 70's 18ft has a running 70 something 85hp motor. Can someone help me out. Thanks

Got any pics showing more of the interior layout?

She looks like a Mariner with the center console moved to the starboard side and the remote moved from the console to the sidewall. But I think the Jetson light places her too early for a Mariner.

Safe to say, she a FrankenCraft.

Looks like a 73-74 Mariner, with heavily modified.

Ask the seller to show you the paperwork. That will answer many questions.

Hard to say without seeing it in person. Got a link to the ad if it has more pics?

There is no HIN number plate on it, so it is most likely before 1973, but there should be a Starcraft Data plate in it on the steering side of the gunnel that will tell you what model it is.

Best find out the law in your area for title and registration.

owner has registration for boat, none for trailer. Michigan law requires a weight slip and bill of sale for a trailer plate.

The registration for the boat will have the serial number on it, so you can look the model up through one of the serial number tools, but I would not be surprised if it has a state issued number which will mean no history on the boat.

Modified as in console moved from center, front deck/storage was not there when it left the factory.
Looks like something done to the starboard side of the splash well.

On my 18' Mariner, the BIA/coast guard plate and was on the inside of the gunnel on the port side, about 3' in front of the splash well.

Things were so chaotic in the past on how they identified these boats makes it really tough to identify them so many years later when major changes have been made to the boat.
