What motors would "drop in" to existing spot where AQ 151 pentas currently are.

Hello

I just got an 86 Sun Runner currently has 2 4cyl AQ 151s, bad compression etc.

I am looking for some advice as to what i could get to replace these what would be the easiest and most affordable to do so. Perhaps new 4cyl pentas?
Drives are in good shape and can be rebuilt i have been told

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

The 151's were a bit underpowered for any twin instalation.
They sell lots of re-power options.Depending on how deep your pockets are.
Drives are 25 years old too.Depending on the type.I'd consider a complete package.
Some older Volvos had trim/tilt and some just had tilt.
Now they come standard with T+T.
You sure you wanna put that much money in a 25 year old boat????J

Hello

Thanks for the reply back, well i had a quote for 2 V8s as a package for around $30k. That number is pretty high for me.

The only reason im considering fresh 4cyl and rebuilding the out drives is that the boat truly is in amazing shape -motors. And the price im finding for 4cyl motors are around 3k each +install of course. Also not sure i could get a 28ft boat for 25k, so thats another reason to possibly repower a 25 yr old. Just my thoughts, i do appreciate yours.

Thanks
