Thanks for reading!
Just a quick question here:

What oil does a 3.0 OMC Cobra take?

Seloc says "SAE 30 20W-20 oil"
It is very hard for me to find this oil!
What do you suggest? ThankS! :)

Howdy,

As usual Seloc is probably wrong.

If you're talking about engine oil, use Any name brand NMMA FC-W oil for the engine in SAE 30 or 40 wt oil. You can also use a multigrade such as Mercury 25W-40, or as recommended by Mercury

Since OMC no longer exists, The oil suggested by Mercury is the most current info out there.

If you want to change the oil in the vertical drive, use one of the marine (Mercury, Volvo etc) type gear oils or any GL-5 type gear lubricant.

BE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT YOU DRAIN AND REFILL THE DRIVE IAW THE OMC SERVICE MANUAL. DO NOT FILL IT FROM THE BOTTOM (DRAIN)

Rick

I use that same oil in my Cobra 5.0. My shop manual just recommends any SAE 30 oil at temps. above 32deg. If you are crazy enough to be running in temps. below 32deg, it recommends SAE20W-20. The Castrol 30 HD seems to work just fine for me.
