posted 06-06-03 11:49 PM
Hi,

My cockpit deck has a lot of scratches,black marks,wear & tear,etc..
I want to paint it so I'll have that "new boat deck" look again.

I went to West Marine and they gave me "NON SKID PAINT" When I opened it, it had sand or grit in it. I don't want my deck to have sand on it. I just want to paint it.

The surface of my deck now,is like an "Orange skin" dimple-like surface. All I want to do is give it a fresh coat but I have no idea what paint is used on it.

Has anyone painted their cockpit deck that could help me?
Thanks,
Lou

lou,

The problem you're going to have is keeping the non skid surface. Once you paint it, many of the "dimples" you see fill in and make the deck smooth-slippery.

It is best to paint it by spraying with a non gloss enamal.

Hi Again,
When you say "enamal" Is that the same paint you would use for painting stripes on your boat or painting the outside sufaces such as "TopLac" or Brightside Polyurthanes but only in a flat finish?
