Re: what paint to use on fiber boat???
Use a primer that's intended for polyester, then topcoat with Brightsides, Toplac, or a similar product. Most say not to use below the waterline, but if your boat is trailered and doesn't spend more than a few days in the water at a time it'll be fine, most manufacturers will tell you this "off the record"!
For best results apply with a foam gloss roller, the thinnest foam (short nap) cover that you can find, and "tip off" with a soft brush afterwards to get rid of any air bubbles that the roller forces into the paint.
Tipping off is best done by a second person following the roller as it needs to be done quite quickly. It involves dragging the brush very gently, just barely touching, across the fresh paint surface. Enough so that it bursts any bubbles but doesn't leave brush marks. 3 coats of gloss should be enough to give a really nice finish, almost spray quality.
For a more durable finish use a 2 pack gloss, using the same application method.
