I believe the part with the info decal is the flame arrestor. Is that correct?

And is the little black tube circled supposed to connect to:

The part in picture one screws into the silver circle are of picture 2. The tube had been hanging off to the side and I just want to be sure before connectiong it to the hole (not sure what the hole is). Seems like it should go there.

Thanks for the help. You can probably guess I am not that knowledgable on part names.

The flame arrestor should connect to the valve cover.

Are you sure that isn't the PCV system on that motor? Spark arrestors are usually metal screens or gratings over the carb throat. A tube that allows crankcase vapors to be drawn into the carb intake is usually the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system

SadReality if you are talking to me... in a way yes...I dont have the plastic square cover like you...Mine is just the round part that screws into carb..cant remember where hose goes in but once you get it in position it should be obvious...Pete44

Re: What Part Is This?

The flame arrestor (round metal part with hose)is actually a seperate part fromt he square plastic cover. What happened, is the stud is supposed to stay in the carburator. The nut holds the plastic cover and the flame arrestor in place.
The hose is nothing more than a breather hose and allows oily smoke out of the engine. The hose just directes it to the carb so the complete engine compartment doesn't get smokey, oily, and filled with oil fumes.
