Now we find out you have a 17" prop, & not a 19", and your RPM was only 3500? Maybe you do need to go to a 15"pitch prop?

We know he has a 17p but also know it is not in good shape, so it may not act like a 17 in the water under load.

not getting up to WOT #'s.. having to move bodies up front to get on plane? Sounds like to much prop for heavy boat.. MHO= 4 blade prop @ 15x16 Michigan Wheel Vortex( needs hub kit) or the Michigan Wheel Match,,(has hub pressed in)... that should help get out of the hole

No, we didn't know that in the 1st post he said he had a beat up 15x19prop.

By the way, again I ask, Is this a FORD 302? Or Chevy 305? motor? The Ford, would not have as much power, it is a short stroke (3") rpm designed motor, the Chevy is a long stroke (3 5/8") torque designed motor. Choosing a prop would be different for these motors!

Its the 305 Chevy and yes when i do get numberS it will be with a new prop. Thinking im going to try the 15x17 first and see how it goes. Seeing as i have no baseline to really measure my performance with. And sorry about the mix up before i had looked at the measurements before leaving my house that morning and just mixed them up so sorry for any confusion there.

Just FYI from what I understand 14-1/2 x 19 vs 15 x 19 won't have any better/worse effect.

You, my friend in my opinion are weighing that boat down too much. Roughly 1200-1400lbs depending on weight of friends and a full tank. I only fill mine to about a half a tank usually for weight reasons. Granted the boat is rated for a full tank and how ever many people/lbs your sticker advises for passengers, usually 1000lbs-ish. However just because my truck says it can pull 8,500lbs doesn't mean it's gonna perform in top performance. It's gonna lug pretty bad and I'm gonna have to take it easy. Basically, you cant expect it to pop right up on plane weighted down with all that weight. It's gonna take a bit. I'd try a 16 pitch 4 blade now that I know you have a chewed up 17. I'm hoping the 16 will be enough. You may need a 15 pitch 4 blade though.
