I have a 21 alum. starcraft with a 150 merc. efi and it runs 4800 rpms at wot. could someone tell me what pitch i need im thinking a 17 pitch, am i right or would it be another pitch. Also does raising the motor on the transom help a little also?

That would be about right. Try raising the motor now and see what we gain. Is your prop stainless steel?

Let us know!

Your motor should be within 5000-5600 rpm at WOT.

As a rule one inch pitch equals 200 rpm so a 20" should land you on 5000. This would be like overdrive.
A 17" should land you on 5600 and be like a pretty low yet powerful gear. Pretty good hole shot but not the highest top speed.

And if you really want to know about props and much more, go here http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=014920
