What prop do I need

We have a 2009 Rinker Captiva 19.2. It has a 4.3 Mercury, it runs out at about 48 mph and 4800. It is slow slow slow getting out of the water and up on plain. It has a 3 blade prop. Does anyone know what size prop is best for these boats to get up and out of the water and on plain. I realize I will loose some top end speed but with 4 people in it it takes forever to get up on plain. Does anyone have a remedy for this, thanks

4 blade prop will improve your hole shot.. based on your current performance numbers. The prop pitch you now have seems good. Get a 4 blade in same pitch...Solas Amita in 4 blade would perform well

Look at your prop. Around the collar numbers are stamped there...your prop pitch is there..its usually a model # followed perhaps by a dash then say 19...or 21. That would be pitch

Julie, Your top speed is excellent for that boat/motor combination. If you want to improve low speed performance you will need to change to a 19" pitch ( or lower) prop. You will lose some top speed, and you will need to watch your max RPMs. Are you sure your tachometer is correct? It seems a bit high to me.

You might consider the Mercury Spitfire prop In the same pitch. It is said to improve performance without sacrificing top speed.

Which 4.3 motor do you have (read HP)?

A non injected 4.3(carbed), is a dog with a 21" pitch, but they constantly come stock, because with a non-existent load they'll show best top speed - but not normally 4800.

Gee, I ran a 4.3LX (205HP, 4bbl carb) with a 21"P Rapture. It was not a dog out of the hole, and I could get about 42MPH with it.

Julie's boat would appear to be a bit larger and heavier than mine, hence the 19P suggestion.
