Yes Iceman....you should put some waterproof grease on the prop shaft splines as a part of your regular maintenence.

Use the same grease as you would use on the trailer wheel bearings.
It's sticky, greasy and green.

Coat the splines and coat the inside of the prop....can't use to much really.

The grease does not really "grease" or lubricate any moving parts....but it's near a must to help with easy removal of the prop next time you want to take it off.

If you hang around boating very long, sooner or later your going to experience a prop that is "stuck" on.....HARD!!....
Banging, heating, burning, bent screwdrivers, busted and chipped prop housing material and busted knuckles will be your badge of honor.

There are many propeller calculators on the internet.
You know what your current prop is....I can see the numbers.
Google "propeller calculator" and start your knowledge base from there.

Ok that was some good reading however I am really concerned that my motor is to low... I had a shade tree mech install it. should I take it to a marine dealer and have it checked? Will they know this info?

Ice, they may or may not, the reason I say that is we help a lot of people here who have the engines installed by dealers and they turn out to be too low at times.

I would recommend that you take a straight edge and check the anti ventilation plate as I show in the previous post yourself. If the anti ventilation plate is about 1 1/2" higher than the bottom of the boat you should be in good shape.

If you will give us your WOT RPM and GPS Speed we can recommend a better prop for you.
