What prop for Mariner 40???

I've got a 16 foot military spec inflatable boat with a 1989 oil injection Mariner 40 (twin cylinder).<br /><br />The prop on the motor is 10 inch diameter 3 blade and has the markings 48 73 36 A4 1P (or something like that!).<br /><br />How do I know if that is the best prop for the application?<br /><br />The boat is used with light to medium loadings (some crew & dive gear) and I'm not looking for absolute top speed, just a good all round performance (cavitates/ventilates a bit too easy just now).<br /><br />Anbody know where to start?<br /><br />All help very gratefully received!

Part numbers say its a 13" pitch prop. Whats your lower unit ratio? Check your numbers again...they don't sound quite rite....

I think the ratio is 2:1, but to be quite honest I'm not sure.<br /><br />I'll check the part number again, as I see a 13" pitch prop listed with part no. 48 - 73136A40 so I guess it might be that one.<br /><br />Would that prop suit the application??<br /><br />Thanks

I've checked the number on the prop again and it is the 48 73136 a40 13p 13"pitch.

Guess I interpolated your figgers rite. You need to calculate the weight of your boat fully loaded with everything for YOUR particular needs and then we can figure it out. 13" pitch is for about a 2,300 lb load on your rig...Maybe if ya had 8 special forces operators in the boat. :cool:

Hi, could anybody suggest the best prop for my boat. I have the same 40hp mariner on a 13ft dell quay dory. I lost my prop recentley and dont know what to replace it with as i never noted the details of the one that i lost. thanks
