I have a 1975 Mercury 650 3 Cyl. 65HP outboard. I bought this not running and nursing it back to health. Currently I am struggling to fin someone that can tell my what prop and hub kit I need for this. Several different marinas and nothing. Really I am just looking for a prop to fit.

The application is a 1987 Smokercarft 161. I plan to mostly get to fishing holes. But would not mind setting this thing up to pull a tube for the kids.

Thanks,
Tim

Well, the hub you need will depend on the prop blades you select. Some prop brands do not have modular hubs.

Your motor is from a large family of popular motors, so it is going to have a good number of prop manufacturers and pitches to choose from. Michigan Wheel is one of them, as is Quicksilver. Pick a prop brand, and usually the manufacturer will list a selection of pitches and if the prop is modular, select a prop hub for you.

I just put your information into the iboats prop search and came up with quite a few selections, so it just depends on what pitch you are wanting. I have a 69 Merc 1000 that I'm doing the same prop search for on my 16ft Silverline and would make you a heckuva deal on a 16p and hub that didn't work out for me, but your 650 uses the smaller gearcase, so it won't fit. Sorry.

After trying a Black Max prop with the removable hub, I decided on a fixed up 4-blade prop. My current (old) 3-blade 17p is fixed and it just seems easier, especially after removing and installing props on the water. Less parts to go wrong, and in my application, the fixed hub was cheaper. Hope this helps.
