i have a 1992 baja 180 islander with a 4.3 gen+ merc and a alpha one gen2 drive, i currently have a 14.5X19 prop and i can make it wash out or cavitate when going straight. I usally top out at around 48-49 mph i would love to break 50 and dream of hitting 55

The Islander is something like 2,900 lbs. base engine is a 175 What is yours?
Is your speed by gps only accurate way.We also need to know your wot(wide open throttle)rpm. What is the max rpm rating? Is your prop in good shape? Is it aluminum? (usually painted)

Not a pro but it seems your aluminum is a little weak venting easily. if it was mine to do I would get a stainless in the same size It will likely solve the venting problem, Improperly called "cavitation"and probably trim better. There is a chance to get to 50.I think your rpm needs to be around 4,800 the stainless may help with that as well. The pros may be along with more technical suggestions. Some times a dealer will let you try a number of props when you intend to buy. There is a loaner program here at iboats don't know if your application qualifys.
