what should rpms read

I have been reading this forum alot...i have a question. 86 sea ray volvo 170 top end about 42 when calm tach only reads 3000<br /><br />does this sound right.....engine feels likes it holding back....but speed seems fine

hi, I talked to other marine mechanic, he said PRM's should be around 4800 to 5000
