I am waiting on the manual for my 97 Johnson 90hp (J90TSLEAU) but I was wondering if someone could tell me what size battery I need for this motor. Please

Starting battery? What boat is it on? Do you have a battery selector for dual battery setup?

Starting battery, I always like to go as big as i can fit, 1000CCA, if you are using the battery as a dual purpose for electronics as well, that may change, but need more info

You can't go too big but I don't think that motor will need a very big battery to start it. A group 24 would probably be plenty. My 5.7 I/O only calls for 475 mca.

Bigger is always better but depends on the space it will fit in.

What size battery all depends on how sure you want to be that it will have juice when it needs it. Spend enough time out there and eventually you will have a  moment where some unforseen problem or thing has been drawing current while you obliviously drank and fished!

Unless you have a secondary battery for electronics make sure you buy a marine deep cycle, not a marine starting.

You don't want to buy a marine deep cycle battery for a starting battery.
