1967 J/E 6hp, has what appears to be the original carb float in it, it's yellow with a bunch of brown oil stains on it. The needle has a rubber tip and is sticking so this thing needs to be rebuilt. However, there apparently isn't a carb kit for this engine that includes a new float. (the Sierra part# is 12-7043 which replaced the earlier part # 43-9071. Neither of these kits have the floats). Will a float from the 9.9/15hp fit or does anyone know the proper sierra replacement number for the proper float or have any other suggestions? Many thanks.

mclaught - you need to get an OEM carb kit to get the float. Any Bombardier dealer should be able to get you one. PN 439071. You may order one from here.

PS - Sometimes those old cork floats saturate with gas and sink.
Hope this helps!
