What size diameter propeller do I need?

I own a 1987 Sea Ray Mercruiser Alpha One 3.0 and have a damaged propeller. When i try and measure the diameter I can't get a precise measurement. How do I know whether it is 14 1/2" 15" or how to get the exact size to replace it?

There is usually a size stamped into the outer hub... or down inside by the nut. The diameter is not the important number. The pitch is the one you want to concentrate on. Was the original prop performing correctly? If so, try to find those numbers and buy a similar replacement.

Once you find the pitch on the prop, as suggested probably under the prop nut, look up props for your motor.The diameter will be correct and you may note that generally as pitch goes up diameter goes down. Prop size is written _ _ X _ _ diameter X pitch.
Sometimes its more cost effective to have a prop shop repair your prop.
