Sorry if this isnt the right forum, but I have a 1978 19' galaxy bowrider model 1000B and was wondering if anyone could recommend an Evinrude or Johnson for this hull.I have a 85hp evinrude I rebuilt over the winter, and it gets the hull up to 35 mph, but I'd like more hp for waterskiing starts. Thanks.

What's it rated for.

I like to use the 85 % rule. That is an engine at least 85% of capacity.

HBF4 - My 19' Searay bowrider has a 205HP Sterndrive. It will run about 45MPH downhill with the wind. The motor weighs about 900# and the hull 2500#. I would suspect your boat is lighter, and therfore you could use less HP. I would think 125-150 HP would be good, 200 HP about max

I ran a 19' bowrider with an 80 Merc and it was sorta OK. It gave out after 8 years & I put a 140 Rude on it & ran it for 7 yrs unil I sold it. I would stick to a johnny/rude in the 115-140 bracket. Going over that puts you into a V6 and more weight.
