What size motor?

I have 9.5 hp johnson. It weighs 60 pounds. I want to get a 10 or twelve foot flat bottom Jon boat, maybe even something small enough to throw in the back of a truck. Would this motor be too heavy for a small boat, like that? It does ok on a 14 foot semi v.

I agree also. Just check the capacity some of the small Jons can be rated pretty low.

Thanks for the input so far. I plan on buying used. Normally when you ask the seller questions reguarding capcity, or anything technical. They look at you like you are speaking another language. I just wanted to get a good idea before I started looking. I will keep you posted.

I wouldn't buy one that did not have a capacity plate.<br /><br />As stated, Jon's can be rated VERY low.

it will work fine on a 10", I have a 15hp on a 10" arrow dingy runs great ...

PS . the pic below my name is a 8,5" inflatable with a 30hp modified on .... runs like hell ....
