I need a new battery for my boat. I have a 1977 Mercury 115 hp engine and the only other electronic item I have is a fish finder. Any suggestions on what size (CCA) and brand?

Thanks for any help!

If you don't use your fish finder for hours and hours at a time with the motor not running, I would get a starting battery. CCA aren't as important as quality. The starting motor on your outboard shouldn't draw near as much power as a car starter so super high amps aren't that important.

Jaro
I agree with Bozo Normal Starting battery would work fine. I would not go smaller than a group 24 or 74 though as usually very little savings. Should you later add a GPS, VHF Radio, CD/AM/FM Radio, TV, Light for night fishing then I would reccomend a second battery for all the add on stuff and also move the depth finder to second battery. Should add a Trolling motor then that for sure would require at least a second battery.

Jaro,

The combination deep cycle/starting would work well for you.

Delco Voyager is one that comes to mind.
