I have a 16ft Tri Hull, with a 75 Hp motor. I would like to put a bow mount trolling motor on it! My problem is I don't know what size of motor I need. I think a 46lb would do it, but not sure. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks

12v is 55lb max at the very least you need roughly 2lbs per foot so 32lb to 55lb would work. You can never have to much thrust on a trolling motor. If you are running in high current or weeds then you will need every bit of a 55lb

Ok thank you for the reply. So a 12 volt 46 lb thrust should work fine!?!?

it will work. You have to understand its a bit like asking if a need a car or a truck to pull a boat. A car could pull a boat as long as the roads are flat and smooth where a truck would be better if theres hills and off road involved. A trihull will drag in the water so if you fish in high current then i would surgest a 55lb motor (or bigger) but if the water you fish is low current then 46lb will work fine.
Do you have the motor already or are you considering buying one new or used?

Ok makes sense. I am considering buying a used one that is decent and cheap. Maybe buy a new one.

Ok one more question that I have thought of. Would a Saltwater Trolling motor work fine in Freshwater?

You also need to consider wind. High wind requires more thrust.
