I have a 17' displacement hull open boat for inshore fishing around the UK and wondered what size would be best for a main outboard?

TIA

What boat is it (model)?
What is the recommended max outboard for the boat according to this boat specification?

Re: What size outboard?

It's a Tidemaster (built in the UK).

There is no information on the transom to tell me what the max outboard size is and as far as I know, the manufacturer is no longer in business.

I was just looking for a basic recommendation - I was considering 10-20HP four-stroke?

If it is a displacement hull, you won't need much power. Do you know how much it weighs, and how much load you will carry. I am betting that you won't need more than 20 hp. Get a motor with a heavy duty lower unit that has greater gear reduction than standard and larger prop like a Mercury Bigfoot, and you should be okay.
