What I have is a 1983 150 V6 black max on 1983 17ft Winner bass boat. The boat is slow getting on plane,it has no whole shot. But once it gets up on plane it will run like a scalded dog.I have replaced alot of parts trying solve this problem."no luck yet"I have replaced, stator, rectifire, plugs, plugwires, fuelfilter, and cleaned and rebuilt carbs. The moter runs smoother but still slow out the whole. So I am thinking it could be the prop but I don't know the size and it isn,t stamped. The only thing on it is the name "HOOTER"and the numbers 3 93 62 it's a 14in 3 blade stainless. I have had the motor turning 6000rpm easy with this thing. It's fast, scares the hell out of me.Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks Joe

Re: What size prop do I have

Jathans,

Call Hooter up... Hopefully they will know what that prop pitch is... But depending on the age of the prop and what numbers you are reading, you never know how helpful they will be...

But based on your symptoms, it sounds kind of tricky.... 6000rpms is good... Almost too good... But a bad hole shot is bad with that WOT rpm....
How heavy is your boat and what type of load are you carrying? And what is the max rated horse power?

I'd like to know as much as possible about it's top speed, handling, etc. A lot of folks love this type of topic... But we need more info...
