Re: What size prop should I have??

I can't say for sure for your model but I'm running a 1988 Bayliner Capri 15.5 ft fiberglass which weighs approximately 975lbs with motor. My motor is a 1988 Force 50 HP. I am currently running a 10-3/8" diameter, 13.5 pitch prop and with myself alone in the boat can run WOT at 28 MPH. Add the girlfriend, extra tank of gas, cooler with food, fishing equipment and we drop down to 23 MPH.

The best way to determine is to obtain your WOT RPM range, get an actual RPM reading while running at WOT, and experiment from there. That's basically what I did and found the 13.5 to be the best for my setup.

Every boat/motor/individual setup is different; depending on how much you and your passengers and gear weigh. My boat came stock with an 11.5 pitch which I found too slow based on my setup.

Hope this helps.

Need to know

1) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
2) Current prop diameter and pitch
3) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load
