If propped correctly, about 40 MPH wouldn't be out of line with a 60 HP on that size boat. My old Mercury 65 HP on my 16' Wellcraft hit 41 MPH.

i agree, "if propped correctly" and running good, 40mph... watch your rpm at wot and let us know the results.

Re: what speed should i get

this is the original prop that came with the engine when new. would this setup be ok for pulling a kneeboard and wake board and a ringo or would i need to change down a prop. the boat weighs 500 kilos including engine and original shiny gelcoat hull

As a rule of thumb, an engine will use 10% of it's rated horsepower in US gals. per hour at wfo.
Example: Your 60hp. engine will use 6 (10%) US gals per hour at wfo.

c/6
Hooty

Re: what speed should i get

back in the 1980,s i had a merc 65hp 3 cylinder that was on a 13foot broom speedboat it done 42mph and was very good on fuel. now this 60hp engine seems very much the same to look at with the lid off. is it the same or is this a more powerfull engine, or completely diferent engine to old 65 blueband
