I`d say with 2 guys+gear 20-25 mph. Looks like a fantastic boat!

Thanks! That is not the actual boat but it is the same model. I was afraid of it being two heavy and it would need a 40hp motor, but I think this motor should do

It wil plane out ok, but gonna top out about 20-22 mph in smooth water.

If you want to move 1000 lbs across the water, at more than 20 mph, you're gonna need more power.

Run a similar boat a couple times a year. Its ok with one person, but adding a second person is very noticeable.

Thats my concern. I will be using it in rough water and for a good amount of time with 2 people in the boat. The dry weight is some where around 700 pounds

Realistically, I'd say 15 mph with 2 people and fishing gear on a calm day.

A 35 or 40 would be a much better choice.

Tracker is notorious for selling underpowered boats.

Yes the boat weighs about 650#, plus 2-3 people, gear, cooler, anchor, plus the motor and the battery. Easily reaches 1000-1300#

Not very, if you intend to cover any sort of distance with that I think you will be dissapointed, it is gonna be slow.

I have a Sea-Nymph that is similar(16' and way heavier) with a 50 and get between 26-30 so with half the power you will be at about 20 mph, less with current or wind.

It should fish alright and has a decent lay out but 25 is the minimum power for that, 40 better and a 50 would be perfect.

Find the capacity plate and the max HP, for a boat to run right it should have at least 70% of the max rating, mine is rated for a 70 and has a 50 so it is right in there but I would sure like to have a 70 on it.

Tracker is notorious for selling underpowered boats.

Tracker offers motor upgrades on all their boats, it's people that either don't really know what they're doing when they buy the boat, or the ones trying to save a dollar that underpower their boats. I'm sure the salesmen tell them what they can expect with the smaller motor and tries to talk them into upgrading.

Looks like I am going to skip out on this one and wait for something similar with a 40hp on the back so I can get up and moving.

Tracker advertises cheap boat prices, but they tear you up on a trailer, delivery and boat prep.

By the time you've finished the total package, it's an expensive boat. Comparable boats can be purchased at far less prices if you're careful--or you can get a more plush, higher quality boat for the same ultimate price.

The boat show season is about to hit. I've found prices best at boat shows, especially on last years' models. Anytime you get a bunch of overly competitive salesmen in the same room, the prices will come down.

Good call. You would have been very unhappy with that rig.

I have a 14.75 Lund with a 30 and only get 25 mph, by the speed-o.
That's with two people and a 6 lb dog, 6 gals of gas.

Re: What Speed will I get from this boat?

I have been looking at boats with 25hp but it seems like every boat I look at gets heavier because of the decks, storage and consoles. That same boat with a 40 would move really nice but the cost will be much higher. Luckily most people in my area go for the 14'ers with the 9.9's to fish the 10hp limit lakes. I don't and therefore am staying away from those small motors which have high prices and demand.

My budget is around 3,500. I am only 15 and I bought a 2004 basstender with trailer (and trolling motors) 2 seasons ago and I am going to sell that. I will most likely get around 2 grand for that, that is in range with the others ones I see for sale. I will be happy with $2,00 because I only paid one grand for it 2 years ago.

'course dad's just gonna swap the motor onto his 2000 18.5 pro guide and sell the 99 with his 2 stroke 60 merc on it lol

Good for you basstender. Never would have guessed your age if you hadn't divulged it. Your use of coherent expression and correct grammar and punctuation should be used as an example for the other iboaters your age; or for that matter half of the iboaters my age.:facepalm::p Keep looking for your rig. You'll find it.
