I just got a 14 ft 2 inch tried hull skiff side console boat with a mercury 402 thunderbolt 40 hp. What kind of speed should I expect?

Too many variables to predict speed without more detail. Like what does your boat weigh for starters. What pitch prop, the width of the boat, just need a whole lot more info and pictures would be helpful. In a happy world, I 'd say mid 20's to 30...

Would have to agree with gm280 however if a glass boat the extra weight will probably drop you down to low to mid 20's. As stated earlier hull condition, motor condition and a whole lot more will figure into it. My 16' alum runabout with a 40 hp merc would run 27mph with two adults and gear.

Yea it's suppose to be tri hull. iPhone autocorrect does it all the time but its 6 ft wide and it's fiberglass but I'm not sure the weight and I don't have any pictures right now. But thanks for your replys and I'm not sure what pitch prop either I can't find it on the prop
