What SS prop to switch to?

I have a 2006 F150 on my boat and after tinkering with the engine height I still need some more rpms.

I'm running a Yamaha SWS II 15.5x17 and am running at 5650 rpms trimmed up. I need to be closer to 6000.

The SWS prop is actually too big for my engine. Its designed for 200hp+.

Will going to a SS prop like a Stilleto or Turbo in a 14.25x17 increase the rpms? To my untrained brain,it seems like reducing the dia. 1.25" would raise the rpms some.

How do these props handle rough water?

Re: What SS prop to switch to?

Blade design has more to do with actual RPM when the truth comes out, But yes, a properly set up large blade prop will generally have better holding ability.
With that being said, a 14-1/4 turbo has alot of bite...a bit more than the stiletto, and usually performs quite well when comparing the larger diameter props.
The boat you have may play a part in that decision as well...what rig are we looking at?
Might also take a look at my thread at the top of the prop forum "apollo 3-blade"...it was the large diameter apollo and I ran some Turbo1's during the testing of that prop...The Rakers are just for comparison.
