Hello everyone , I joined you guys in hopes of getting some information on how to find the year of this vessel I purchased .
It was in pieces when I got it and I replaced the transom and some hardware and a seat . I only have the original plate with the serial number on it . My problem is the only numbers that made any sense as to the year were 96 ? But I contacted someone from StarCraft and they say the boat was most likely built in 68~73 years . The serial numbers that old are not on file any longer so I'm told ? I need to find a way to document the year of said serial # 965913...Any info will be welcomed .....Fish on !

Welcome aboard.

Moved this from the old thread you posted in. Look at the Starcraft brochures , you might find a match. Post some pictures. Did you get paperwork with her?

And what length SC? Your Ser# is fairly close to the one on my 18ft Holiday, which I think also falls in your 68-73 timeframe:

What plate did you get the Ser# off of? It doesn't match mine ^^^?

If there are no numbers stamped on the exterior right (starboard) side of the transom, above the transom handles, its probably a pre-73 like Starcraft suggested.

I have a 1973 Starcraft that Pennsylvania registered using the serial # as the HIN, but that was a long time ago. And until it was sold to me, they just kept using it as the HIN.

WV will issue it a WV coded, state issued, confirming HIN.

Since its labeled a SeaFarer, are you looking to narrow down the exact year when you asked what SC you have?

Since those boats changed very little over a very long production run, unless SC can help narrow it down, I'm not sure anyone could.

Seems SC has already been much more helpful then they have been in the past... Sort of surprised they replied at all, let alone were helpful. Thats encouraging...

Thank you for your response . My problem is that NY state let me register her with the Serial number plate . But there was no way of knowing the year , so we took the only digits that ran together for a year ~ 965913 being the number we picked the " 96 " ???? So come to find out anything over 1973 needs a title ..After researching the boat I found out its an older model ...I need to document this to keep from buying title insurance , due to no paperwork showing the correct year ..
