WHAT??? Text message spam on cell phones???

Ok, so I'm a bit behind in cell phone technology, but I was surprised to get an advertising (junk mail) text message on my cell yesterday. <br /><br />Geeze, isn't anything safe from spammers?<br /><br />How can I block this junk?<br /><br />BTW, I have only received three text messages total, 2 from my wife, and this one junk mail. But I don't want it to continue.

The best part is paying to recieve the SPAM <br /><br /> Its a BIG money maker for the phone companys i have to wonder if they will turn it off or better yet make you pay a monthly fee to turn it off <br /><br /><br />tommays

Mark, call the cell phone companies. I'd imagine you could get text messaging blocked on your phone.

About 10 minutes ago, I received 4 different text messages, all SPAM. I called my cell carrier, (verizon) and had text messaging blocked, on three of our four phones.<br /><br />Each text received, unsolicited or not, costs 10 cents each. 10 cents time's millions of cell phones adds up to very LARGE $$$ for the cell company's, at our expense. <br /><br />Our four cell phones run's over $140.00 a month, that's plenty to pay, especially for a family plan.<br /><br />...Bob in Calif... I haven't received any of the text SPAM yet. However, I have noticed that the Federal "no call list" doesn't seem to be working any longer.<br /><br />We were free from telemarketers for almost a year. As of late, they have started up again.
