Ok, In all my years of owning boats, I've only ever owned VP engine and outdrive configuration.
This past week, I went and sea trialed a 2001 3470 Express Cruisers Yachts with twin 8.1L Gi motors.
Boat ran great and acceleration was quick.
Got the boat hauled out and surveyed and noticed that it has SX drives with Duoprop lower.
My understanding is that the SX doesn't include the duo props.
That would be the DP out drive. is that correct?
looking around on the engine designation stickers, it lists the drive unit as: DP-SM 1.95 and the engine as 8.1GI-A

Can anyone please help me figure out what is happening here?

And, they are interchangeable. Meaning you can replace lowers in either direction SX-->DP or DP--SX. The transom shields are the same as well....

I thought that the big blocks used a 1.78 ratio normally and the small blocks ran the 1.95. What prop sets are on it?

Usually, however not always. Depends on what the powertrain is going in

Per the decal you have your answer. 8.1's with DP-SM drives with 1.95:1 ratio. What mystery do you think you have?
