Hello! First time posting XD

I'm considering buying this boat for restoration, I for the life of me can't find a similar model. The logo is a silver line, but from what I can tell they stopped making tri-hulls in 1980.

The paint suggests it's mid to late 80's It's a not as boxy as 70's tri hulls. It's a big try hull..., I didn't measure but i'm guessing 18'. Not an inboard...

I'm guessing someone updated it at some point in the 80's or early 90's?

Need some serious TLC, I'm thinking a complete tear down and rebuild.

I think it could have tons of potential, i'd reconfigure the interior to a more modern seating layout.

Oh also I have some Jatoba wood that I picked up very cheap years ago i've been sitting on for the right project. I was considering making the wood
details out of the jatoba. Possibly the floor I think I have about 100 sqf. Thoughts on that?

The title should have that info on it, unless you know you can get a title, don't get it.

That's a Comoro ... probably an 18T, and could be as old as a '74. Hard to tell from the photo. Paint job isn't original. I had a '72 and they're great boats. You can read about mine HERE and you can see some literature to try and match up yours HERE.

Welcome aboard.

'74 was the first year they started sweeping the gunwale where the windscreen meets it. So that means this boat should have a HIN stamped in it and on the paperwork. Hull ID number should be stamped on the stern just below the rub rail. It may also be stamped on a capacity plate up near the helm. I can't recall how Silverline did theirs (their serial numbers prior to '73 were pretty random), but the last four digits should clue you in to the year.

Not all states have or require titles. Could be completely irrelevant. This is a commonly dispersed piece of bad information. Yes, one should be aware of the requirements of the jurisdiction where the vessel is being registered.

I checked what he had listed as his location before replying, and doesn't give it, so the warning stands as valid. More states require them than don't, and things are becoming stricter everywhere.

As a person that has had to re-title boats, title boats I've built, and transfer titles (or I should say get new) from states that don't require them to states that do, I'm very familiar with the routine.

I'm Canadian so i'll check with the local insurance provider.

I have no clue as to what a province requires in Canada for registration, but if this boat has some kind of paperwork or registration, the year and model will be on it.

Thanks:) the owner is out of town for a few days. We'll see. he's a messy guy i'll be surprised if he has it on hand. He has about 50 older classic cars in various states of repair. lol and warehouses full of stuff. Cars are nice, Stingrays, Vipers, 58 Caddy, Nova, 396(or8?) Caprice, etc... I think 6 Vets in total.

Here in Ontario the title for the trailer is the biggest concern. Not sure where in Canada you are, but here they are most concerned about what you paid for the boat and trailer and how much tax they can get out of you. The hull i.d. number gets registered with the coast guard(through Service Canada), the authorities on the water only look for booze and fishing licences, if the police find the boat with no driver then they contact the coast guard with the hull i.d..

Don`t Bother with the Jatoba in a boat, its only good for flooring in a brand new climate controlled house. It will be a slippery splintered nightmare by next year. Exotic wood flooring is on the decline in Canada because of all the problems with it in our climate. Trust me I`m a flooring guy.

I'm in Manitoba, thanks for the info Earp! Are you just over the border, IMO some of the most beautiful lakes and forests on earth in Ontario.

Sad face on the Jatoba:( Darn, Rona every year in the spring has the clearance section, I picked up about 15 boxes for ten bucks each. Normally $100.00 per box at the time.

Even done correctly the Jatoba will not last hey? Epoxied and caulked like a teak deck?

Does teak even hold up in our climate?

I'll find a use for the wood one day, it's beautiful.
