LOL Ok didnt see the post count just MONGO pics :D:D. I cant help ya on the Tek although I do know it can be braught back like new . The rims on the other hand . Check around your area for powder coaters ( they usually sand blast as well ) . They should be able to blast and coat the rims which will make em last a long time even being dipped in the drink regularly :D.

Can't help with the teak, but the rims would look fine with a good rustolium paint job, or a set of moon hub caps.

I used wood bleach and it brought the teak color back and looks great. I ordered teak oil but from what ive been told teak is a pain because you will have to oil every 2 months or more.

The rims i havent decided whether i want to remove and strip the rust and polish or just paint over them(after using oxpho to convert the rust) with a rustoleum black.. heres a pic of my trailer what would you do to match the color of the trailer?

Turbo if your running in saltwater I would have them blasted and powder coated or just get some new rims that are already powder coated :D.

Turbo, ospho is a great choice. I'm suprised to hear you knew about it. You do need to remove the loose stuff with a stainless steel wire brush and clean them to get rid of any grease/oil or the ospho will not penetrate and do its job. It will turn the rust black but a few good coats of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and a final finish coat should have them looking new again. Of course if you're climate is salty then replace them with Galvanized wheels.

Hello Turbo...

aye..if you want to Ospho them..me thinks you would have to soak them at least over night.. ( long time and Alot of Pho m8.. )

Quick way.. sand blast, prime.. paint with good quality paint.

nice rims.. just have to get the rubber off and do it right..there is no ez fix ( In my little world at least ;) )

YD.

Re: What to do about these rusty rims? Pics inside

I have a painted steel trailer and use it about 50/50 in fresh saltwater but after launching in saltwater I launch it in a local river on the way home and flush the motor and rinse the trailer(or rinse everything off at home)..It has worked for me over the years and the trailer has survived. When i bought the boat the trailer had some light rust on it so I used ospho and repainted it with rustoleum(holding up well). The trailer wheels have been rusty since purchase and they are just now starting to bother me. I think they will hold up painted since the trailer has under the same conditions.

For $60 every few years (if you keep the rig that long) why worry about it

Just scrub them with an SOS pad.
then if you want to paint them, I like that Dupla-color Mirage or "something Cast" or something like that. Its translucent paint, that puts a color tint over a chrome surface. Its really cool looking. Just dont use it over colored paint or it looks like "the poopy".
