I'm in a quandry.

So, I have this 88 VIP Vision boat with a Ford 4-cyl 2.3L OMC drive. Believe me when I say, it runs absolutely perfect. Replaced the distributor gear, auxilliary shaft, rebuilt carburetor, new wiring, new prop (and have the spare for rebuild) and much more.

But... the seats are shot. Done. Toast. Floor is solid, but the entire inside needs to be redone... or disposed of.

Initially, I thought I would part out the thing on E-bay -- but I see Ebay's commissions have risen again. Roughly about 11%, and if they pay with a credit card another 3% on top... plus shipping fees are getting ridiculous with gas going up. But I figured this would be the best way to get some quick, decent money for parts that are discontinued. (I did this with an old Bayliner L-drive... and darn near got out my initial purchase price because parts were difficult to find.)

Is there much market for this stuff anymore? Or am I better off sticking the entire thing on Craigslist and sell it to the first one that shows up?

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Haven't worked much this winter and the extra cash would be handy... for food.

eBay's fees are 9%, plus the small PayPal fee. Shipping isn't too bad yet, if you price shop USPS and UPS and use flat rate boxes for anything over 7lbs or so, depending on the distance. I'm a Powerseller in used auto parts so if you have any specific questions ask away. I still think there would be money in it for you to part. You dont see those engines much anymore, but that does add value to the parts. Bigger things like the drive and motor would do best on Craigslist or a free classified ad on eBay.

Thanks for the input, guys. It confirmed what I already thought. I took videos of the thing starting, running, shifting, etc., on the hose before I start pulling it apart. Hopefully it will boost confidence in what we have, as well as maybe the price.

Thanks again,

Jason
