What to do with 6 month Old Fuel?

I debate this with myself every Spring. I have around 5 gallons left in a external fiberglass 12 gallon tank. I add little Star tron every time I put fuel in the tank during the Summer. 2 cycle mix. I leave the pressure valve a little open during the winter so fuel doesn't find another way out. I cover the tank to keep it out of the weather down at the Lake. I usually end up taking the left over fuel to the recycling center to be more safe than sorry. PIA as well as a wast of fuel/$. But I leave fuel in the I/O with stabil and then change the water fuel separator and have no problems. What do you do?
Ethanol containing 89 octane fuel

This site has some scary info:

We have ethanol free fuel available here. I use it, treat it with Sta-Bil every tank. It sits in the tank from November to May, no problems.
If you don't trust it in your boat, dump a few gallons in your truck before you fill it up. Even with 2 stroke oil in it, it will be diluted enough with a full tank that the truck will not even notice. I do this with my small engines that won't be used for a long time. Chainsaws, tiller, etc. Tossing it at the recycle center is wasting too much money.

Six months old you say. I had the same problem with untreated E10 fuel from last fall. I charged my battery before my first trip earlier this week. The charged battery must have re-combined what had to be phase separated six month old fuel because she ran great. Fuel mileage was terrible though and didn't last six months, I have to fill the tank again. :D

If you want to read read a scary story, read a Steven King book. :)

Run it. If you are nervous about it, fill the tank by adding another 5 gal. of fresh fuel and run it.

I dislike ethanol fuel but it's what we have. 5 in a 12 gallon tank. I would fill it up with fresh and burn it.
I think I posted this b4 but I had a leaky tank and what leaked onto the deck jelled in a day or two. Looked and felt like thin jelly. Never saw that with straight gas. It's real crap.

I've always found old gas will run just fine in my truck. Drain it out and put it in the vehicle... Good luck.....
